this is the story of who I am and how i got here...

Today, I am a successful executive woman in a male dominated industry, a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher, have traveled to more than 30 countries, a Buddhist at heart, a marathon runner, a vegetarian, a fierce athlete, beach lover, sun and moonrise admirer, a complete spiritual junkie, an immigrant and conqueror of the American Dream.

And through my journey of moving, packing, conference calls, meetings, yoga classes, airplanes, hotel rooms, recipes, miles, sweat and more, there's been numerous lessons that I've learned... there's been some highs and lows, and everything in between... there's been wine, laughs, cries, diets, books, family, friends, places I probably will never see again and places I can't wait to see again.

I was born in the 80s in Colombia... as in ColOmbia with an "o" and that place better known for Netflix's "Narcos" and that whole infatuation with Pablo Escobar... also for coffee, flowers, Shakira, Sofia Vergara and somehow the misconception that the entire country of Colombia is really hot (aka:  Mr. & Mrs. Smith got it soooo wrong!), it's not! I went to a private nun school and went to more BBQs with my parents than I'll ever remember.  As you can imagine, growing up in Colombia in the 80s was no joke and for the safety of my family and in search of a better future we somehow ended up in New Jersey... Yes, New Jersey!!!

In Jersey, I learned how to speak English and did my best to fit in with this new culture that was so foreign to me... but what kid doesn't want to fit-in? .... I tried everything, joined the cross country running team and was part of way too many musical plays... and slowly began to identify more with the American culture than with the Colombia I once called home.  Somehow; I ended back in Colombia for High School and kind-of had to learn Spanish all over again.... and once High School was over.... I was back in Jersey.... and then, I decided winter was not my thing and moved to South Florida... so I guess you can say I'm somewhat of a mutt in what I identify as my culture.

I lived and got my Grad degree in Chicago, where I met pretty amazing people, and where I decided that I was meant for great things.  I got picked up by a consulting company a few months out of Grad School and ... well, that's what I've been doing since.  I traveled the world for work but also for fun; I got my first taste of foreign travel when I was a sophomore in college and never stopped traveling... that is my deal breaker in any long-term commitment I make... "I must be able to travel."

Somewhere between buying the house, having the car and everything I had ever asked for, I found yoga as a stretching exercise and stress releaser from work... it slowly changed how I saw life! I was surrounded by these amazing physically-strong, goddess-like women that acted like bosses and were spiritually inspiring! I wanted to be like them... so I became one of them... and in becoming, I found my true self!  I have now been practicing yoga for 8 years.

Throughout my life, I've had it all and I've lost it all multiple times... I've had to go through the loss and the rebuild multiple times and this blog is meant to inspire you through those stories that have made me who I am today.

I'm a strong type-A personality yogi that crushes dreams.... a competitive spirit that loves the stillness of the moment.... a seasoned traveler with the ambition to see the world... a vegetarian against my family's will... a naturally born leader and made athlete...  A gym-rat that cannot live without her yoga mat... I am inspired when I see the world through the eyes of the locals of the places I visit, I am the unedited version of all the cultures that have come through my life (Catholic, Jewish, Christians, Buddhists, Americans, Colombians, Brazilians, Jamaicans, South Africans, British, and way too many other amazing people to write them all).  I am.... ME.
